About Me

The Radical Jewish Traveler, also known as David Shneer, by day teaches and writes as a professor at the University of Colorado.  He has travelled around the world exploring the contours of Yiddishland. The Radical Jewish Traveler has a passion for in situ learning–studying, reading, singing, and creating with students and others in the places where that which we learn about took place.  The Radical Jewish Traveler has read Maimonides with a group of Russian Jews in Cordoba, Maimonides’ birthplace, and has hailed cabs in Lvov/Lviv/Lemberg with none other than his intreprid colleague, Rob Adler-Peckerar, as they explored the city with a Baedeker’s Guide from before World War I.
